Towing is potentially dangerous with a poorly equipped vehicle

Towing is not always as simple as attaching a trailer and going for a drive. Some vehicles are not fully adapted to handle large demands from towing.

Automatic transmissions are under a further load when you tow, and in the case of a towed caravan, the fluid inside your transmission can become so hot, that you can cause damage leading to costly repairs. An oil cooler unit mounted in front of your radiator improves the oil temperature.

Brakes also work harder developing higher temperatures and can suffer from brake fade. Upgrading the brake pads to a heavy duty type can help sustain higher temperatures.

Tow bars generally come in two load ratings and overloading a tow bar can cause damage to the mounting points and potentially the tow bar breaking. Ensuring the right unit is fitted for your situation is vital.
